Friendly Sunday classes for ages 5–16 at Harford Community Centre — from first letters (உயிரெழுத்து) to advanced grammar and heritage festivals.
We are a not‑for‑profit Tamil school run entirely by parents and community volunteers. Our mission is to help the next generation read, write and speak Tamil confidently — while experiencing the arts and festivals that make our culture vibrant.
Founded in 2016, we serve over 120 children from across Norfolk every Sunday. Every teacher is DBS-checked and every session is a safe, welcoming space.
Play-based phonics for beginners to essay writing and GCSE preparation for advanced students.
Two 55-minute sessions each Sunday, split by age group. Harford Community Centre, Hall Road, Norwich NR4 6DP.
* Times may shift slightly for special events and cultural festivals.
Every teacher is a volunteer — parents and community members giving their Sundays to preserve Tamil language and culture for the next generation.
Please save these important school dates. More details will be shared with families nearer each event.
Hear from parents, students and volunteers who make Norwich Tamil School what it is.
"My daughter went from knowing no Tamil to reading full sentences in a single year. The teachers are incredibly patient — every Sunday she comes home excited about what she has learned."
"The community here is wonderful. My children look forward to Sundays — they have made real friends and grown so much in confidence speaking Tamil with their grandparents."
"Six years as a volunteer teacher here. Watching shy five-year-olds become confident Grade 8 students reciting poetry in Tamil — there is nothing more rewarding."
